*Halloween Read-a-Thon & TBR*

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays! So I was pretty excited when I saw that Lauren @ wonderless reviews is hosting a Halloween Read-a-Thon! This will be a great way for me to knock out some of the horror and paranormal books on my TBR, so I couldn’t pass up participating! For more info and to sign up, check out the Announcement Post.

  • The Halloween Read-a-Thon will run from October 10 – October 31
  • You can join at any time during the Read-a-Thon
  • You can read as many or as little books as you want
  • The books you read MUST be horror, thriller, or have some kind of supernatural element
  • When posting your TBR, link back to the original post so others can join
  • To share your progress on social media, use #HalloweenWR

There will be some fun challenges going on throughout the Read-a-Thon, but it’s not a requirement to participate in any of the challenges! Only if you want to!

A few important things to remember about the challenges…

  • You’re able to use the same book for multiple challenges
  • Feel free to make any changes you want
  • You can use the banners Lauren created!

Alright, so on to my TBR! (Just a heads up… I’m not guaranteeing you that I’ll stick with this TBR, but this is just a general idea of what I’m hoping to read during the Read-a-Thon.)

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

I’ve wanted to read this book since before it was even released! So what better opportunity to read it than the Halloween Read-a-Thon? I don’t know about y’all, but that cover looks pretty creepy to me…

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

I meant to get around to reading this book in September, but it’s not gonna happen. So I’ll pick it up in October and use it for the Halloween Read-a-Thon because it’s main page genre is Paranormal… plus it has vampires and witches!

As I Descended by Robin Talley

Another of my highly anticipated reads… perfect for this Read-a-Thon challenge because it’s main page genre is Horror. And that’s awesome, because I had no clue this book was labeled horror… Yay!

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

Another perfect read for this Read-a-Thon… a book I’ve been excited to read and it’s Paranormal with witches! I usually read after sunset anyway, so my plan to read this book for this challenge may change… but for now, Truthwitch it is!

The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

I choose Treat for this challenge… meaning I can choose a book from any genre. I pick Science Fiction! I can’t wait to read The Thousandth Floor and the cover is just so beautiful. I hope it’s as good as I want it to be!

The Diviners by Libba Bray

A horror book that I’ve always wanted to read… so I pick The Diviners as my sixth book! (Hopefully I can read six books within the time frame!)

Well there you have it! This Halloween Read-a-Thon is gonna be tons of fun, so I hope some of you will join in with us! Don’t forget to head over to the announcement post to sign up!

Will you be joining the Halloween Read-a-Thon? Let me know below!

    1. I’m really looking forward to Nevernight! And all the others. I was thinking it might be hard to find books to read in the Horror/Supernatural genre, but it was actually quite easy (and fun!) because I have way more books I wanna read in those genres than I first thought. So I’m really excited to participate in the readathon!!

  1. I don’t really like the pressure of read-a-thons as I rarely compile TBRs, let alone get into challenges… But who knows? Maybe I’ll try this one! I don’t like horror books but I have some supernatural/paranormal that I’d like to read 🙂
    Great list!

  2. Oo! This looks like lots of fun, but I’m not sure I’ll have the time for this in October. (October is gonna be a big month for me in blogging and otherwise.) Plus, I’m not sure I have enough books for this. :p Too many fantasy books to read right now. Haha! Hope you have fun with it, though! Looks like it’ll be great!

Nevernight has been sitting on my shelf since its release so I really wanna get to that one! Oh and let me know what you think of The Diviners, I loved the concept but hated the book a little 😦

  4. Great picks. I really enjoyed both Nevernight and Carry On, even though they’re completely different stories. As I Descended has been on my watchlist for a while, I’ll look forward to seeing what you think of it.
This readathon is going to be really interesting.

  5. All these seem like great pics! I’m adding a few to my TBR 😀 I’ve been wanting to read Nevernight for a while now. It’s gotten some pretty good reviews! And Carry On just seems adorable. Great post! Love your blog ❤

      1. I’m not sure. Maybe it’s partly to do with us having reversed seasons. It’s our spring in October, so not super spooky. I think the US is one of the only places where it’s still a big deal (was it a Pagan thing originally?)

  6. I had no clue that Carry On is a paranormal book complete with witches and vampires! Now I’m even more excited to read it! I’m also really excited for Nevernight and Truthwitch! Happy haunted reading and good luck! 😀
